SABEEN MAHMUD FORUM

Volunteer | Advisory Board Member

2019 - Present

The Sabeen Mahmud Forum hopes to see a world where people understand, protect and sustain their mental health and wellbeing. Prevention is at the heart of what we aim to do by addressing the sources of mental health problems for children and young adults. We aim to drive change in schools by supporting them to create safe spaces where they can share their fears, confusion and anxieties with an adult who listens without judgement and helps them determine how to handle stress, relate to others and make healthy informed choices.

PAKISTAN CHOWK
COMMUNITY CENTRE

Advisory Board Member

2017 - 2024

The Pakistan Chowk Community Centre was a two roomed space designed to encourage community engagement. It gave the public a place to host formal and informal meetings throughout the week. Housed on the first floor of Old Town’s historic Sultani Mahal Building and being in close proximity to Pakistan Chowk, the Centre would actively facilitate art, writing and discourse. However, due to the complications that accompanied Covid-19, the physical space had to be closed. Nevertheless, we are taking advantage of digital platforms, and are continuing research, advocacy and cultural programs through various models like educational and training internship programs.
