A multidisciplinary graphic designer and visual artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. Kiran Ahmad graduated from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2010, with a major in graphic design and a minor in film.

Ahmad’s current and ongoing research focuses on documenting and preserving Pakistan’s history through print media, you can follow the instagram page @printarchivepakistan for more details and updates.

She started her own studio practice as a creative practitioner in 2013. Through her professional practice her studio devises creative solutions across the media, art, and design spectrum. Inspired by a minimalistic approach, the practice addresses an interplay of space and form. Through taking-on and being immersed in independent projects and initiatives, the studio has worked on conceptualising and devising several design identities and branding guidelines for start-ups, NGO’s, and educational institutions, focusing mainly on branding and editorial design projects.

Alongside Ahmad’s design practice, she became interested in art and design academia and has had the privilege to teach and be associated with the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) since 2015 to date, as adjunct faculty primarily in the Department of Communication Design.

Currently in the Department of Communication Design, She is looking for new ways of developing the existing Graphic Design major, thinking of new ways of bringing research into the curriculum. The goal is to create an environment where the process of working collectively becomes central.
